Flash Fiction Writing Contest Submission Requirements

 

  1. Story must have a clear beginning, middle, ending, and resolution. Those submitted without these elements will be ruled ineligible.
  2. Story must be:
    • Well-edited (no first drafts!)
    • Fiction
    • 1,000 words or less
    • In .doc format
    • Double-spaced
    • 1″ margins (all around)
    • 0.5″ paragraph indentations
    • Size 12 Times New Roman font
    • Have your name and story title in upper left corner
  3. ACFW North Denver represents a Christian organization. While it is not required that your story have a spiritual theme, submissions containing sexually explicit scenes or descriptions, swearing, foul/suggestive language, or graphic violence will be ruled ineligible.
  4. You may enter as many times as you wish; however, for each submission you must also fill out an entry form and submit an additional entry fee ($15).
  5. Only online entries submitted to ACFW North Denver will be accepted.
  6. Contest is open to published and unpublished authors eighteen years and older.
  7. All entries must be received by midnight, September 1, 2016.
  8. Up to ten finalists will be chosen and contacted by the ACFW North Denver board or a representative thereof to advise them of their acceptance and to finalize editing and contract details.
  9. From those finalists, one First Place winner, one People’s Choice winner, and up to eight Honorable Mentions will be chosen by an independent editorial review board.
  10. Winner(s) will be announced at the Novel Crafters Seminar of the Rockies on Saturday, November 5, 2016. Winner(s) need not be present.
  11. Names of all winners will be listed on the ACFW North Denver website and social media pages by Monday, November 14, 2016.
  12. By entering, you allow ACFW North Denver to post your name on our website, in our newsletter, and on our social network sites (such as Facebook and Twitter).
  13. By entering, you grant ACFW North Denver and Flash Fiction/Novel Crafters Seminar Magazine worldwide first print rights to use your entry in publication to include print, electronic and audio recordings for publication and promotion.
  14. ACFW North Denver is not responsible for expenses or compensation for the work. Prize monies are paid on the basis of contest rules and do not in any way indicate a legal contract with ACFW North Denver and Flash Fiction/Novel Crafters Seminar Magazine or its associated companies.
